On Saturday & Sunday
June 3rd & 4th, 2006
D.R. White attended the Shakespeare and Friends Renaissance Faire
in
Rogersville, Tennessee
|
![]() |
Unlike when he attended the Tennessee Renaissance Festival,
Mr. White brought along his tent to sell his medieval items in
|
![]() |
Although he wasn't able to do any signings that weekend due to the sudden downpours of rain, D.R. was still very please with his regular sales and the many colorful characters he was able to photograph, such as this brightly colored pirate
|
![]() |
And this German speaking lad who had just a tad of pirate in his blood
as well!
|
![]() |
But considering his girlfriend was one herself, you could hardly blame him for joining the crew of
that pirate ship! ;-)
|
![]() |
It seemed as though Mr. White couldn't escape from the sea bound scoundrels that weekend!
|
![]() |
Here we see Mr. White and his good friend Terry "MacCrow" Newman posing with the Captain of all the pirates!
|
![]() |
They were a lively bunch. Here you see them as they pull their canon uphill to position it for their attack against the Queen! Fortunately, all they loaded it with was potatoes. ;-)
|
![]() |
But just so you won't think that there were only pirates at this event, here's a picture of a beautiful Snow Queen!
|
![]() |
And this group of jesters, a fair maiden and a King's guard that later arrested Mr. White and placed him in the stocks!!!
|
![]() |
In order to be released, the queen instructed D.R. to beg for five gold doubloons from people walking by to pay for his crimes against the throne!
|
![]() |
Mr. Newman was placed in stocks as well, but he escaped! Although, moments after escaping he was brought down in a flying tackle by the same guard that had arrested Mr. White! :-O
|
![]() |
Here we see their jailor recieving a kiss from one of the kissing wenches!
|
![]() |
Even though there were many many lovely ladies at this event, Mr. White found these three to be exceptionally lovely!
|
![]() |
The fair maiden in this picture was an excellent story teller!
|
![]() |
Mr. White felt as though this poor chap should eat more. After all, he was practically little more than bones!
|
![]() |
Standing in the middle of a sand pile (the closest thing there to their native home land) Mr. White spotted two young dancing girls in training.
|
![]() |
Mr. White was very honored to have meet this prestigous lady who was the Queen of the Trolls!
(note: that was her troll bridge behind her. anyone passing over it had to pay a troll fee.)
|
![]() |
Here we see one of her subjects posing with a girl that bore a striking resemblance to Mr. White's editor for his book series.
|
![]() |
This knight had the unfortunate duty of guarding the Queen's royal pavilion during most of the festival!
|
![]() |
Returning to the pirate theme, we see that Captain Jack Sparrow made it to
the Ren Faire!
|
![]() |
This gentleman actually painted all of those wonderful works of art you see!
|
![]() |
This puppet master put on an excellent show. Here we see him posing with his newly hatched dragon!
|
![]() |
Here we see D.R. and his good friends, the troll and William "Crazy Willie" Shakespeare
|
![]() |
Speaking of dragons, this baby dragon was almost hidden from view in this clump of bushes!
|
![]() |
Here we see a red and black pirate waiting to judge the minature boat races that were about to take place.
|
![]() |
As you can see, quite a little crowd gathered for that event!
|
![]() |
These are the actual stocks that Mr. Newman was in just before he made his escape!
(note: the boy seen in this pic was the son of one of D.R. White's neighboring vendors)
|
![]() |
This pirate's hair looked as though he had just stepped out of a fast moving chariot!
|
![]() |
Before Mr. White left, he had to get one picture of him with the only two knights at the event shorter than him!
|
![]() |
Looking on in amazement at the sight before him, this tanner was pausing briefly from his task of filling in the hole he had dug to smoke his cow hides!
|
Those were just a few of the sights
seen by D.R. White. All in all,
a good time was held by all at the
Shakespeare and Friends
Renaissance Faire!
